Overview
Calcutta National Medical College & Hospital (CNMCH), located at 32 Gorachand Road, Beniapukur, Kolkata-700014, is a prominent public medical institution in West Bengal, India. Established on April 14, 1921, as the National Medical Institute, it was inaugurated by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and later amalgamated with the Calcutta Medical Institute to form the current entity in 1948. In 1967, CNMCH was nationalized under the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal .

CNMCH is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The college offers undergraduate (MBBS), postgraduate (MD/MS), and paramedical courses, with an annual intake of 250 MBBS students and 122 postgraduate degree students.
The hospital, commonly known as Chittaranjan Hospital, is one of the largest government hospitals in West Bengal, with a bed capacity of 1,470. It provides comprehensive healthcare services, including outpatient, inpatient, and emergency care, serving over 8,000 patients daily .
