Located in the heart of Mancherial town, Telangana, Government Medical College, Mancherial is a newly established institution aimed at advancing medical education and healthcare services in the region. Mancherial serves as the district headquarters and is a bustling commercial hub, particularly known for its proximity to the Singareni coal belt. The town lies on the northern banks of the Godavari River and is strategically situated along the Grand Trunk Railway Line (New Delhi–Chennai), offering seamless rail connectivity to major cities across India.
Well-connected by both road and rail, Mancherial is just 244 km from the state capital Hyderabad, with the Hyderabad–Karimnagar–Ramagundam Road running through it, making it easily accessible. The Government Medical College campus enjoys a central location within Mancherial, with both the bus station and railway station located within a 2-kilometer radius.
About the College:
Government Medical College, Mancherial is among the eight new medical colleges sanctioned by the Government of Telangana in June 2021. The college commenced its first batch of 100 MBBS students in the academic year 2022–23 and is affiliated with Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Warangal.
Teaching Hospital:
The Government General Hospital, Mancherial, functioning as the teaching hospital for the college, is a key healthcare provider in the region with a bed strength of over 350. It offers medical care to the surrounding areas of Mancherial district (including Bellampally, Mandamarri, Chennur, Naspur, Luxettipet, Sirpur-Kagaznagar), parts of Adilabad district (Asifabad), and even neighboring regions of Maharashtra, such as Ballarshah.
The hospital comprises a modern administrative block, outpatient departments across various specialties, a 24/7 Emergency and Trauma Care Unit, and a well-stocked pharmacy. It also features a Thalassemia Transfusion Centre, potentially affiliated with the Indian Red Cross Society, and coordinates with various health outreach centers and Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in Naspur, Jaipur, and Srirampur.
