IIM Visakhapatnam Admission Process 2025
The admission process for IIM Visakhapatnam for the year 2025 is currently underway, and interview call letters will be released shortly. Admission at IIM Vizag is strictly based on entrance exam performance, as the institute considers scores and percentiles from exams such as CAT, GMAT, GRE, and the IIMV Test for different programmes. For the PGP course, candidates are shortlisted based on valid CAT scores that meet the institute’s cutoff. For programmes like PhD and PGPEx, candidates can submit applications directly through the official IIM Visakhapatnam website. The admission process is conducted in multiple phases. The steps are detailed below.
Step 1: Application Process
The application process for IIM Visakhapatnam is conducted online. To apply for the PGP, EMBA, or PGPDGM programmes, candidates must register for CAT at iimcat.ac.in. For the PhD and PGPEx programmes, applications must be submitted via IIM Visakhapatnam's official website. After the CAT results are released, candidates are required to complete a separate detailed online application form for the MBA programme at IIM Vizag.
Step 2: Personal Interview
Candidates who complete the application process and meet the required percentile are categorized as 'Qualified Confirmed Candidates'. IIM Visakhapatnam then calculates weighted scores based on factors such as CAT scores, academic performance in Class 10 and 12, undergraduate degree, diversity, and work experience. Based on these weighted scores, interview calls are issued. For the PhD, PGPEx, and PGPDGM programmes, the interview stage is held after the release of the shortlist.
Step 3: Final Selection
The institute then calculates a Final Aggregate Score using a combination of parameters, including performance in the personal interview, CAT scores, academic records, diversity, and work experience. Based on this score, the final selection list for programmes such as MBA and PGP is prepared.
For other programmes, selection is made based on various criteria such as entrance exam scores (CAT, GMAT, GRE, or IIMV Test), academic and professional background, Statement of Purpose (SOP), recommendation letters, and personal interview performance.
Step 4: Admission Confirmation
Candidates who are selected must confirm their admission by paying the required MBA course fee for IIM Visakhapatnam.
Note: Candidates who have already been shortlisted and interviewed by IIM Bangalore, Kozhikode, Lucknow, or Indore for their PGP/PGPM programmes are exempted from attending a separate personal interview at IIM Vizag. In such cases, the average of their personal interview scores from those IIMs will be used by IIM Visakhapatnam for evaluation. Candidates are advised to check the IIM Vizag cutoff scores for more details.
