Kaushlendra Rao Law College, Bilaspur

Kaushalendra Rao Law College (KRLC) in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, stands as a distinguished institution with a rich legacy in legal education. Established in 1948 as an arts college under the Mahakaushal Education Society, it introduced legal studies in the same year. By 1968, recognizing the growing importance of legal education, the institution transitioned into a dedicated law college, initially named M.E.S. Law College. It was later renamed to honor Late Justice Kaushalendra Rao, a former judge of the Nagpur High Court. 

In its early years, the college operated as a part-time evening institution and faced financial challenges, leading it to function from rented premises until 1983. The generosity of Shri Ashok Rao, a respected citizen of Bilaspur, who donated land for the college, marked a turning point. This contribution enabled the construction of the college's own building, providing a stable foundation for its growth. Today, KRLC is affiliated with Guru Ghasidas University and is recognized by both the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Bar Council of India (BCI). The college offers a range of programs, including the three-year LLB, two-year LLM, and postgraduate diplomas in Labour Law. Admissions are primarily based on merit, with some programs requiring candidates to clear entrance examinations. 

KRLC boasts a comprehensive infrastructure designed to support holistic legal education. Facilities include a well-stocked library, moot court hall, computer lab with high-speed internet, auditorium, and sports amenities.
