Overview
Kerala Law Academy Law College (KLA) in Thiruvananthapuram is Kerala’s first self-financing law college, founded in 1966 and officially inaugurated in 1967. Affiliated with the University of Kerala and approved by the Bar Council of India, it offers a rich range of programs: a five-year integrated B.A. LL.B and B.Com LL.B, a three-year LL.B, along with LL.M and M.B.L postgraduate courses .
KLA is renowned for pioneering research and practical legal training. It hosts the highly respected Academy Law Review since 1977, and its students have repeatedly represented India at international moot court competitions—most notably the Philip C. Jessup and Stetson Environment law moots The college is credited with launching the only National Client Consulting Competition in India and conducting grassroots legal aid camps through its permanent Clinical Legal Training Centre
Situated on a 12-acre sylvan campus in Peroorkada, KLA’s infrastructure includes both traditional and modern classrooms, an air-conditioned moot court hall, an open-air auditorium, a stadium, hostels, smart ICT resources, and multiple libraries with international legal journals . The on-campus Court Centre near the local court complex enhances hands-on legal exposure .
Admissions for undergraduate integrated programs require a minimum of 45% in the Higher Secondary Exam, with a merit-based combination of entrance test, qualifying marks, and interview. Postgraduate admissions are based on LL.B performance and interviews
