Overview The National Institute of Technology Raipur (formerly Government Engineering College Raipur) was established in 1956, with its foundation stone laid by India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. It is one of the oldest and largest technical institutions in Chhattisgarh, spread over a 100-acre campus. Recognized as an Institution of National Importance, it has evolved from offering two branches to a comprehensive institute with 12 undergraduate and 11 postgraduate programs. Location: G.E. Biomedical Center of Excellence: One of the few NITs with a high-tech Biomedical Engineering department. Labs include: Biomedical Equipment Lab: Equipped with Ultrasound (USG) machines, CT Scan trainer kits, and Hemo-dialyzer units. Tissue Engineering Lab: Features CO2 incubators, 3D printers, and inverted fluorescence microscopes for advanced cellular research. Mechanical & Industrial Labs: IE&M Lab: A specialized floor for Industrial Engineering and Management equipped with high-configuration workstations for research. Heat Engine & RAC Labs: Core facilities for thermal engineering simulations and machinery testing. Civil & Geotechnical Labs: * Geotechnical Engineering Lab: Houses Triaxial Test and Swell Pressure Apparatus for soil stability analysis.
