Overview
Stanley Medical College (SMC), situated in Royapuram, Chennai, is one of India's oldest and most esteemed government medical institutions. Its origins trace back to the early 18th century, with the establishment of the Monegar Choultry in 1782, which evolved into a hospital. The medical college itself was formally established on July 2, 1938, named in honor of Sir George Frederick Stanley, the then Governor of Madras Presidency .
