Overview
To facilitate affiliation, teaching, and structured instruction, training, and research across various health sciences disciplines, the West Bengal Legislature enacted 'The West Bengal University of Health Sciences Act – 2002'. As a result, The West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) was officially established on January 1, 2003, with its campus located at DD-36, Sector I, Salt Lake, Kolkata – 700064.
Since its inception, the University has assumed responsibility for conducting Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Post-doctoral (including Ph.D.) programs in a wide range of disciplines. These include the Modern System of Medicine, Homoeopathy, Ayurveda, Unani, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dental Sciences, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, and various paramedical fields such as Occupational Therapy and Prosthetics & Orthotics. The university plays a central role in overseeing health sciences education and maintaining academic standards across the state of West Bengal.
