Coochbehar Government Medical College & Hospital, Coochbehar, WB

Maharaja Jitendra Narayan Medical College and Hospital, Coochbehar (formerly known as Coochbehar Government Medical College and Hospital) is a prominent government medical institution located in the northern part of West Bengal, in the district of Coochbehar. Established as part of the upgradation of the existing District Hospital (MJN Hospital), the institute began its journey in the academic year 2017-18.

The college officially started its academic activities in the 2019-20 session with the admission of its first batch of 100 MBBS students, after receiving approval from the Medical Council of India. The inauguration of the college was graced by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, Smt. Mamata Banerjee, on February 22, 2019, which is now celebrated annually as the "Foundation Day" of the institution.

The college offers a range of paramedical courses under the State Medical Faculty and also runs postgraduate DNB degree and diploma programs, which began in the 2021-2022 session, with approval from the National Board of Examinations (NBE).

Hospital Facilities

The hospital is equipped with over 400 beds and provides comprehensive healthcare services, including emergency care, specialized investigations, and critical care. It houses a dedicated Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Hub, which caters to the needs of mothers, newborns, and critically ill pediatric patients. A notable feature of the hospital is its round-the-clock RT-PCR testing laboratory, which has conducted over 3 lakh tests since its establishment, playing a key role in COVID-19 detection and management.
