Overview: Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT), Sarang, established in 1982, is one of the premier government engineering institutions in Odisha. Initially managed as Odisha College of Engineering (OCE), it was merged with Modern Polytechnic (MPT) in 1987 and renamed IGIT, Sarang, under an Autonomous Society. The institute is located on an expansive 179-acre integrated campus that houses academic buildings, hostels, staff quarters, and extensive sports facilities including the Dr. M. P. Mishra Memorial Stadium. IGIT offers nine undergraduate engineering programs including Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Metallurgical, Electronics & Telecommunication, Computer Science, Production Engineering, and Architecture, along with nine full-time postgraduate programs and five diploma programs. It was the first government engineering college in Odisha to receive NBA accreditation and holds NAAC 'A' grade accreditation. The institute maintains strong research activity with numerous publications and has produced 15 Ph.D. scholars. With a strong alumni network and an active Training & Placement Cell, IGIT consistently achieves high placement records in reputed national and multinational companies.
