NMC eligibility standards

Key NMC Requirements

  • Course Duration: The MBBS program must include a minimum of 54 months of academic instruction, followed by a 12-month compulsory internship conducted at the same foreign institution. NOSMA’s MBBS program meets this requirement with a total duration of 6 years.

  • Medium of Instruction: The entire course, including lectures, practicals, clinical rotations, and examinations—must be conducted in English. NOSMA offers its MBBS program in English for international students.

  • Curriculum Standards: The syllabus must be comparable to the Indian MBBS curriculum, covering essential subjects such as:

    • Anatomy

    • Physiology

    • Biochemistry

    • Pathology

    • Pharmacology

    • Microbiology

    • General Medicine

    • Surgery

    • Obstetrics & Gynecology

    • Pediatrics and more

  • University Recognition: The institution must be listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS). NOSMA is officially included in this directory.

  • NEET Qualification: Indian students must have qualified the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) before enrolling in any foreign medical university. A valid NEET scorecard is mandatory for future registration with NMC and for appearing in the FMGE/NExT licensing exams.

  • Licensing Eligibility Abroad: The student must be eligible to obtain a medical practice license in the country where the degree is awarded. NOSMA graduates are eligible to apply for licensure in Russia, fulfilling this criterion.

 FMGE Performance of NOSMA Graduates

While NOSMA meets all structural and academic requirements set by the NMC, students should also consider the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) pass rates as a benchmark for academic preparedness.

  • In 2024, a total of 188 NOSMA graduates appeared for the FMGE.

  • Out of these, 51 students passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 27.13%.

This statistic underscores the importance of consistent academic effort and early preparation for the FMGE or the upcoming National Exit Test (NExT), which will be mandatory for all foreign medical graduates seeking registration in India.

NOSMA offers a compliant and affordable pathway to a medical career, but success ultimately depends on the student's dedication and readiness to meet India’s licensing standards. For more details, you can explore its Official website or consult with certified education advisors.
