Visa Registration Process at NOSMA (For International Students)
Upon arriving in Russia on a student visa, it is mandatory to complete the visa registration process to ensure your legal residency and academic status. This procedure must be initiated immediately after arrival, typically within 7 working days, to avoid penalties or complications.
On-Campus Registration Support
At North Ossetian State Medical Academy, the International Student Office oversees the entire visa registration process for foreign students. Their role is to ensure that all legal formalities are completed efficiently and in compliance with Russian immigration laws.
Step-by-Step Registration Procedure

Document Submission Upon arrival in Vladikavkaz, students must report to the university’s international office and submit:

Original passport with a valid student visa

Migration card, issued at the airport or border control during entry

Official invitation letter from NOSMA

Medical certificate, including a negative HIV test result

Passport-sized photographs (as per specifications)

University Coordination with Authorities The university will forward your documents to the Federal Migration Service (FMS). This government body is responsible for registering your presence in Russia and confirming your legal status as a student.

Issuance of Registration Proof Once processed, you will receive either:

A registration slip, or

A stamp in your passport, confirming your legal stay

Visa Extension Process

The initial student visa is typically valid for 90 days.

Before it expires, NOSMA’s international office will assist you in applying for a visa extension, which is usually granted for one year at a time.

This extension process is repeated annually until the completion of your academic program.
