SJM Dental College and Hospital, Chitradurga is one of the prime institutions of SJM Vidyapeetha. It was established in the year 1986 for the purpose of taking professional Health Science Education to the doors of desirous students in Central Karnataka in particular and across the country in general. SJM Vidyapeetha is an offspring of Sri Murugha Math, Chitradurga, which is known for its social service activities on the lines of the socio-economic and cultural practices propagated by the Sharanas of 12th century A.D. At present, it has more than 100 institutions from Kindergarten to Post-Graduation. It includes institutions belonging to Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, Nursing, General Education and others ranging from schools to colleges. Dr.Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru is the present pontiff of Sri Murugha Math and by virtue of the same is the President of SJM Vidyapeetha.
