Initial Visa Registration Process
Arrival and Migration Card
Upon entering Russia, all international students are issued a migration card by border control authorities. This document serves as proof of legal entry into the country and is essential for all subsequent immigration procedures. It is imperative to keep this card safe, as it will be required for university registration and visa-related formalities.
Document Submission to TSMU
Within seven working days of arrival, students must submit the following to the International Relations Office at TSMU:

Original passport

Valid student visa

Original migration card
The university will then initiate the official registration of your arrival with the Federal Migration Service (FMS). This step is crucial to legalize your stay in Russia and must be completed promptly to avoid penalties.
Issuance of Registration Slip
Once your registration is processed, TSMU will issue either:

A registration slip, or

A stamp in your passport
This document confirms your legal residence status and registered address in Russia. It must be carried at all times and presented when requested by authorities.
Visa Extension and Annual Renewal
Extension of Student Visa
The initial student visa granted upon arrival is typically a single-entry visa valid for 90 days. To continue your studies beyond this period, you must apply for a visa extension before it expires.
TSMU’s International Relations Office will assist you in extending your visa for the entire academic year. This extended visa is usually a multiple-entry visa, allowing travel in and out of Russia during your studies. The extension process is repeated annually until the completion of your MBBS program.
Documents Required for Visa Extension
To process your visa renewal, you will generally need:

Receipt of state fee payment
The university staff will provide guidance on the exact documentation and deadlines to ensure a smooth renewal process. It is the student’s responsibility to comply with these requirements in a timely manner to maintain legal status in Russia.
