Key Eligibility Criteria Set by NMC
NEET-UG Qualification

All Indian students must qualify the NEET-UG exam with the minimum percentile prescribed for the respective academic year.

A valid NEET score serves as the eligibility certificate for pursuing medical education abroad.
Academic Requirements

Completion of 10 2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) as core subjects.

Minimum aggregate marks:

General Category: 50% in PCB
-
Reserved Categories (SC/ST/OBC): 40% in PCB

Course Duration

The MBBS program must include at least 54 months (4.5 years) of academic instruction.

A 12-month continuous internship must be completed at the same foreign institution.

VSMU’s six-year MBBS program (five years of study one-year internship) meets this requirement.
Medium of Instruction

The entire curriculum, including theoretical classes, clinical training, and examinations, must be conducted in English.
Clinical Training & Internship

All clinical training and internship must be completed entirely at the foreign medical university.

The NMC does not permit transfer of training or internship to India or any other country.
Licensing Examination

Upon completion of the MBBS degree and internship, graduates must pass the National Exit Test (NEXT).

This exam serves as the final licensure gateway to practice medicine in India, replacing the earlier Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE).
