After MBBS from Chuvash State University (CSU), Russia

After finishing your MBBS at Chuvash State University, you can practice in India or other countries—but you'll need to meet certain rules and pass licensing exams depending on where you want to work.

Practice Medicine in India

To become a doctor in India after graduating from CSU, you must follow these steps:

  • NMC Recognition
CSU is officially recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), so its MBBS degree is valid in India.

  • NEET-UG Qualification
You must have cleared NEET-UG in the year you joined CSU. This is required by the NMC for all Indian students studying medicine abroad.

  • Pass the National Exit Test (NExT)
After graduation, you’ll need to pass the NExT exam. This test replaces the old FMGE exam and is required to get your medical license in India and apply for PG courses.

  • 1-Year Internship in India
Even if you completed an internship in Russia, you must still do a 12-month internship at a hospital in India that is approved by the NMC.

Practice Medicine Abroad

CSU is globally recognized by medical bodies like the WHO and ECFMG, which means you’re eligible to apply for licensing in many countries. However, you must pass their local exams.

USA

  • You need to pass the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination).

  • Also, get ECFMG certification.

  • After that, you can apply for a residency program in the U.S.

UK

  • You must pass the PLAB exam (run by the General Medical Council).

  • You also need to prove your English language skills, usually through IELTS or OET.

Canada

  • You must clear the MCCQE exam (Medical Council of Canada).

  • You may also need to meet extra requirements depending on the province, such as additional training or tests.
