NMC eligibility standards
Recognition of OSMU MBBS Degree for Indian Students
Orenburg State Medical University is officially recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India, making its MBBS degree valid for Indian students who wish to practice medicine in India. However, to ensure full recognition and eligibility for licensure, students must meet specific NMC guidelines for foreign medical graduates.
Mandatory Eligibility Criteria (As per NMC Guidelines)
1. NEET-UG Qualification

All Indian applicants must qualify the NEET-UG (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test) with the minimum percentile required for their category in the relevant academic year.

NEET qualification is compulsory for admission and future registration in India.
2. Academic Requirements

Completion of 10 2 education with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) as core subjects.

Minimum aggregate marks:

General Category: 50% in PCB
-
Reserved Categories (SC/ST/OBC): 40% in PCB

3. Course Duration
-
The MBBS program must include:

At least 54 months (4.5 years) of academic study

12 months of mandatory internship

OSMU’s 6-year MBBS program (5 years of academic training 1 year internship) fully complies with this requirement.
4. Medium of Instruction

The entire curriculum—including lectures, clinical training, and examinations ,must be conducted in English.

OSMU offers its MBBS program in English for international students, ensuring compliance with NMC standards.
5. Internship Requirements
-
The 12-month internship must be completed at OSMU’s affiliated hospital in Russia.

No part of the internship or clinical training can be undertaken in India or any other country.
Post-Graduation Pathway
Upon successful completion of the MBBS degree and internship at OSMU, Indian graduates become eligible to appear for the National Exit Test (NEXT) in India. Passing NEXT is mandatory to:

Obtain a medical license in India

Register with the NMC

Begin clinical practice or pursue postgraduate medical education
