SB Patil Insitute for Dental Sciences and Research was established in the year 1991 under the leadership of the Chairman Dr. Suryakanth G Patil which was a dream of Late Shri.Dr.Galangalappa Patil. This college and hospital was established provide a quality oral health care to the people of Bidar and quality education to students of this region. Since 1991 more than 900 graduates have earned their degree and have been practicing dentistry not in different parts of Karnataka or India but are present throughout the world. S. B. Patil Institute of Dental Sciences and Research, located in Bidar, Karnataka, is a distinguished institution committed to excellence in dental education, clinical training, and research. The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program spans five years, including a one-year compulsory internship, while the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) program is available in select specialties such as Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, and Periodontics.

The campus is spread across five acres and includes a built-up area of approximately 140,000 square feet. It houses modern classrooms, state-of-the-art laboratories, and a fully functional dental hospital that caters to around 100 outpatients daily. This provides students with extensive clinical exposure and hands-on experience. The institute also operates satellite clinics in underserved areas of Bidar, reinforcing its commitment to public health and outreach. Facilities on campus include separate hostels for male and female students, a well-equipped library with internet access, advanced dental labs, seminar halls, and auditoriums for academic and extracurricular activities. Admissions to the BDS and MDS programs are conducted through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), and the fee structure varies depending on the program and category. For the BDS program, fees typically range from INR 3.8 to 11.1 lakhs, subject to seat allocation and specialization. The mission of S. B.
