M. A. Pai, is a private deemed university in Karnataka, India. It began with Kasturba Medical College (KMC), India’s first private medical school, and expanded in 1957 with the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT). Initially affiliated with Karnataka University, then Mysore and Mangalore Universities, MAHE was granted deemed university status by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 1993.
