The Madhya Pradesh High Court will hear the case related to the NEET UG 2025 result today, May 26, 2025. This follows a significant hearing on May 22, where the National Testing Agency (NTA) presented its position. The issue at hand revolves around whether students impacted by power outages at exam centers in Indore and Ujjain should be allowed to retake the exam or receive other forms of relief.
During the previous hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the NTA, informed the court that a special committee would be formed to investigate complaints from 24 exam centers in Indore. This panel will decide whether a retest is necessary or if other measures can be taken to assist the affected students.
Advocate Mridul Bhatnagar, representing the students, mentioned that around sixty complaints had been filed from the Indore and Ujjain districts, highlighting significant issues during the exam. He explained that in Indore, a power outage lasting about two hours disrupted the exam, while in Ujjain, electricity was unavailable for around 40 to 45 minutes, causing disturbances at the centers. Bhatnagar argued that these students should be allowed to retake the exam without any technical issues.
NEET Result Hearing 2025: Relief or Uncertainty? MP High Court to Decide Today
While the NTA acknowledged that power failures affected several exam centers, ranging from 10 minutes to over an hour, it maintained that the exam was conducted smoothly overall. The NTA is expected to submit its recommendations, including the possibility of a re-exam, by May 26, 2025.
In a prior ruling, the court allowed the NTA to release the NEET UG 2025 results for areas that were unaffected by the disruptions, withholding results for students from 11 disputed centers. However, the number of affected centers has now risen to 24, potentially impacting a larger number of students.
