NEET UG 2025 Exam Review: Biology Found Lengthy, Chemistry Moderate, Physics Challenging — Section-Wise Difficulty & Student Reactions

The NEET UG 2025 examination was successfully conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday, May 4, 2025. Held in pen-and-paper mode from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM IST, the exam took place across 5,453 centres in more than 500 cities, with around 22.7 lakh candidates appearing. The paper included 180 compulsory multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Each correct answer awarded four marks, while one mark was deducted for every incorrect response. Candidates from the PwBD category were given an extra hour to complete the exam. Strict guidelines were enforced, including a dress code, early reporting, and gate closure by 1:30 PM.

In terms of difficulty level, Biology was considered easy but lengthy, with topics like genetics, biotechnology, reproductive health, and cell cycle, all based on the NCERT syllabus. Chemistry was moderately difficult and well-balanced, containing both numerical and theoretical questions, particularly from organic and inorganic sections such as aldehydes, ketones, and colligative properties. Physics, however, was widely seen as the toughest section, with concept-heavy and calculation-based questions from topics like rotational motion, electrostatics, ray optics, and modern physics. Students followed the common exam strategy of attempting Biology first, then Physics, and finally Chemistry to manage their time effectively.

Many students expressed satisfaction with the return to the pre-COVID exam format, where all 180 questions were compulsory. They also appreciated the smooth exam coordination, strict security with biometric checks, and alignment of the paper with the NCERT syllabus. There were no out-of-syllabus surprises, contributing to a generally positive testing experience.

The NTA is expected to release the provisional answer key and question paper PDF shortly, followed by the results, which are anticipated by June 14, 2025. Along with the results, cut-off marks and All India Quota (AIQ) ranks will also be published. Candidates will be able to download the official question paper and subject-wise answer solutions, which will help them evaluate their performance, analyze mistakes, and understand the exam pattern—serving as valuable resources for both current and future NEET aspirants.
