Gautam Buddha University was established by the Uttar Pradesh Government under the GBU Act 2002 and began its first academic session in 2008. The university is a dream project envisioned to provide a world-class academic environment inspired by Buddhist philosophy. It is fully funded by the NOIDA and Greater Noida Industrial Development Authorities (GNIDA), making it a unique state government-backed unitary university.
