With the NEET UG 2025 results now declared, the counselling process is expected to commence shortly. However, the exam authority has not yet officially announced the schedule or procedure for admissions into MBBS, BDS, and BSc-Nursing courses at medical and dental colleges across India.
Registration Requirement
Candidates who have qualified for the NEET UG 2025 exam must register on the official Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) website to participate in the counselling rounds.
Types of NEET UG Counselling
There are four primary types of counselling for NEET UG admissions:
- All India Quota (AIQ) – 15%
Conducted by MCC for 15% of seats in government medical/dental colleges, and all seats in: - Central universities (AIIMS, JIPMER, AMU, BHU, etc.)
- Deemed universities
- State Quota – 85%
Managed by individual state authorities, covering 85% of seats in state government and private colleges. - Deemed & Central Universities Counselling
Conducted by MCC for 100% of seats in deemed and central universities. - Private Medical College Counselling
Managed independently by private institutions. Admissions are based on NEET scores, though some may impose additional criteria.
Counselling Dates: No Official Announcement Yet
Traditionally, NEET UG counselling starts around July–August, about a month after the result declaration. State counselling usually follows a similar timeline. However, as of now, no official dates have been confirmed. Qualified candidates are advised to keep all necessary documents ready for the counselling process.
Counselling Procedure
During counselling:
- Eligibility and uploaded documents are verified as per norms set by the authorities or medical/dental colleges.
- Candidates must complete online registration, pay the applicable fee, choose their preferred colleges, and lock their choices.
- MCC will release seat allotment lists based on choices and merit.
- Candidates must report to the allotted colleges for physical verification of documents. Failure to do so will result in seat cancellation.
