The National Testing Agency (NTA) has updated the tie-breaking rules for NEET UG 2025. In cases where two or more candidates secure identical scores, the following criteria will be applied in order to determine the final ranking:
-
Higher marks/percentile in Biology (Botany & Zoology) will be given preference.
-
If the tie persists, candidates with higher marks/percentile in Chemistry will be considered.
-
Next, higher marks/percentile in Physics will be evaluated.
-
If the tie remains, the candidate with a lower ratio of incorrect to correct answers across all subjects will be ranked higher.
-
Further, the candidate with a lower proportion of incorrect answers in Biology (Botany & Zoology) will be preferred.
-
If still unresolved, the lower proportion of incorrect answers in Chemistry will be taken into account.
-
Next, a lower proportion of incorrect answers in Physics will be considered.
-
If all the above criteria fail to break the tie, the final decision will be made through a random selection process, conducted under the supervision of an independent expert committee.
