Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) Program – Overview

Amrita School of Dentistry, Kochi offers the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) as its primary undergraduate program. The course is approved by the Dental Council of India (DCI) and is designed to provide comprehensive academic and clinical training in dentistry.

Program Details:

  • Course Name: Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)

  • Duration: 5 years in total, comprising 4 years of academic instruction followed by a 1-year Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI)

  • Seat Intake: Approximately 50 seats per academic year

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates must have completed 10 2 (Higher Secondary) or an equivalent qualification

  • The final two years of schooling must include Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology, along with English

  • A minimum aggregate score in PCB subjects is required:

    • General Category: Typically 50%

    • Reserved Categories (OBC/SC/ST): Relaxation applies, usually 40%

  • Admission is strictly based on performance in the NEET-UG examination, followed by centralized counseling
