Overview
Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) was established through an Act of Parliament (No. 58 of 1994) and formally came into existence on January 10, 1996, as per the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India Notification No. 8-16/GOI/Desk/U-1 dated January 5, 1996. The foundational philosophy and guiding principles of the University are articulated in its Act and Statutes.
BBAU is committed to equipping graduate and postgraduate students with the knowledge, skills, and ethical values essential for personal success and professional excellence. It fosters a socially responsible academic environment rooted in the principles of social justice and equity championed by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
Drawing on the cultural, intellectual, and economic strengths of Uttar Pradesh and other regions of India, the University enriches its educational offerings to reflect both regional relevance and national significance. It plays a transformative role in preparing students—particularly those from rural and marginalized communities—for leadership in an increasingly complex world.
