BENGAL ENGINEERING AND SCIENCE UNIVERSITY, SHIBPUR

The Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, is one of India's oldest and most prestigious engineering institutions. Established in 1856 as the Civil Engineering College, it later became Bengal Engineering College and was eventually upgraded to an "Institute of National Importance" under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, in 2014. The institute is located on a sprawling 114-acre lush green campus on the banks of the Hooghly River. It features world-class infrastructure, including historic academic buildings, advanced research laboratories, a massive central library (Ramanujan Central Library), and comprehensive residential facilities.
