Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela

Overview: The Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Orissa, with its headquarters in Rourkela, came into being in November 2002 through an act of the Government. The main objective of instituting the University was to ensure a high quality of students coming out of the technical colleges through a common curriculum and uniform evaluation. Today, the University has 137 colleges, both constituent and affiliated, with around 100,000 students. The disciplines include engineering and architecture, business management, computer studies, and pharmacy. The university's headquarters are located in Chhend, Rourkela, on a 134-acre campus. BPUT is primarily a regulatory and affiliating body but also runs its own specialized centers for postgraduate and doctoral studies, known as the Center for UG & PG Studies (CUPGS). Ranked in the Rank-band 201–300 for the Engineering category by NIRF 2025.
