Established in 2024, it operates under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode involving the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA), the Orissa Child Welfare & Education Trust (OCWET), and funding support from NHPC. The institute is approved by AICTE and affiliated with MAKAUT. Set amidst a scenic 15-acre campus in the Himalayas, DHITM aims to provide industry-focused engineering education to students in the region, featuring modern laboratories, smart classrooms, and a dedicated training cell.
