Established in April 2006 under the aegis of Panjab University, the Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital is a premier government-funded institution dedicated to dental education, research, and public health service. The institute was founded with philanthropic support from Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge and aims to provide high-quality oral healthcare and academic training in the field of dentistry. Affiliated with Panjab University and approved by the Dental Council of India (DCI) and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, the institute offers a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program. This undergraduate course spans four years of academic instruction followed by a one-year compulsory rotatory internship. The annual intake capacity is 100 students, making it one of the more prominent dental colleges in northern India. Apart from its own Dental Hospital, a 100 bedded hospital for adequate training and teaching of dental students in clinical medical subjects is in active stage of construction, foundation stone of which was laid by Hon.ble Shri Shiv Raj Patilji on 14th November, 2008, then Union Minister of Home Affairs, Govt. of India ,Institute has a well-equipped library. The general ailments in patients from adjoining areas are also being attended to by faculty in the medical and surgical OPD. Dental Institute also conducts camps in various schools of Chandigarh and adjoining rural areas. 

The institute is structured to support both academic excellence and clinical proficiency. It comprises 18 departments, nine dental and nine medical, along with eight clinical and eleven pre-clinical and para-clinical laboratories. These facilities are designed to provide students with comprehensive training in both theoretical and practical aspects of dental science. A fully functional diagnostic laboratory within the campus conducts biochemical, histopathological, and microbiological tests, enhancing the clinical learning experience.

The institute attends to 250–300 patients daily across various specialty clinics, offering affordable and quality dental care.
