BDS Admission Process at KGMU (2025 – Tentative)

Admission to the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program at KGMU is governed by centralized counselling and follows these key steps:

  1. NEET-UG Examination Candidates must appear for and qualify in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

  2. Minimum Qualification Requirement To be eligible for counselling, candidates must secure the minimum qualifying percentile/marks in NEET-UG for the current admission year.

  3. Counselling Quotas Admission is conducted under two distinct quotas:

    • All India Quota (AIQ): 15% of total seats are filled through counselling by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). Open to candidates nationwide.

    • Uttar Pradesh State Quota: 85% of seats are reserved for candidates with UP domicile, managed by the Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME), Uttar Pradesh.

  4. Counselling Registration Candidates must register separately on the respective portals:

    • MCC portal for AIQ counselling

    • DGME UP portal for State Quota counselling

  5. Choice Filling and Locking During counselling, candidates must select “Faculty of Dental Sciences, King George’s Medical University, Lucknow” as one of their preferred institutions.

  6. Seat Allotment Seats are allocated based on:

    • NEET-UG All India Rank

    • Preferences submitted

    • Candidate category (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS)

    • Seat availability

  7. Reporting and Admission Formalities Candidates allotted a seat must report to KGMU with original documents for verification and complete the admission process, including payment of fees.
