Admission
Admission to the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program at Government Dental College, Silchar is strictly merit-based and determined by a candidate’s performance in the NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Undergraduate). The entire process is conducted through a centralized online counseling system managed by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for admission, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Age Requirement: The candidate must have completed 17 years of age on or before December 31 of the year of admission.

Academic Qualification: Applicants must have passed the 10 2 or equivalent examination with the following subjects:

General Category: Minimum 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology

Entrance Examination: A valid and qualifying NEET-UG score is mandatory. Only candidates who meet the cutoff criteria are eligible to participate in the counseling process.
Admission Process
The admission procedure is divided between two quotas:

85% State Quota: Managed by DME, Assam

15% All India Quota (AIQ): Managed by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC)
Steps for Admission Under the State Quota:

Appear for NEET-UG: Candidates must register for and successfully qualify the NEET-UG examination.

Register for State Counseling: After the NEET results are declared, candidates must register for Assam state counseling through the official portal of DME, Assam.

Publication of Merit List: DME, Assam will release a state merit list based on NEET-UG scores of all registered candidates.

Choice Filling and Locking: Candidates must log in to the counseling portal and select their preferred colleges and courses. To be considered for admission to Government Dental College, Silchar, it should be listed among the top choices. Preferences must be locked before the deadline.

Seat Allotment: Based on NEET rank, reservation criteria, and college preferences, seats are allotted. The results are published online.

Document Verification and Final Admission: Candidates allotted a seat must report to the designated verification center with their allotment letter and original documents. Admission is confirmed only after successful verification and payment of the admission fee.
