Government Dental College, Thiruvananthapuram, established in 1959, holds the distinction of being the first government dental college in Kerala and one of the most prestigious institutions in South India. Located on Medical College Road in Chalakkuzhi, the college is affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS), Thrissur, and is recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI). The annual intake for the BDS program is 50 students. At the postgraduate level, the college offers the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) in multiple specializations such as Prosthodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Periodontology, Oral Medicine and Radiology, Oral Pathology and Microbiology, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, and Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry. Admission to MDS programs is based on NEET MDS scores and subsequent counseling.
