Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar (IIT Bhubaneswar) is a premier Indian public engineering and technology university and part of the Indian Institutes of Technology system. It was established on 22 July 2008 by the Government of India as one of the newer IITs to expand high-quality technical education and research across the nation. The institute is recognised as an Institute of National Importance, giving it academic autonomy and a strong emphasis on innovation, research, and excellence. The campus is located in **Kansapada village, Khordha District (near Jatni and about 24 km south of Bhubaneswar) in the state of Odisha, India. Its **permanent urban campus spans approximately 936 acres, set at the foot of Barunei Hill with a serene and pollution-free academic environment. The expansive campus integrates academic buildings, modern laboratories, research parks, residential hostels, recreational facilities, and green spaces conducive to holistic student development. At the undergraduate level, IIT Bhubaneswar offers rigorous Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programmes in various core and interdisciplinary engineering fields. Admissions to B.Tech are based on performance in the highly competitive JEE Advanced examination followed by centralised counselling, ensuring selection of academically bright students from across India. The curriculum blends foundational theory with hands-on lab work, projects, industry exposure and interdisciplinary coursework. For the postgraduate level, it provides Master of Technology (M.Tech) programmes across specialised engineering areas, typically admitting students on the basis of GATE scores and subsequent counselling.
