Admission
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a seat at IIT Goa, you must fulfill the following:
-
Academic Qualification: Passed Class 12 .
-
The 75% Rule: A minimum of 75% aggregate marks in Class 12 (65% for SC/ST/PwD) OR being in the top 20 percentile of your board.
-
Exam Sequence: You must first qualify for JEE Main 2026 (Session 2 is April 2–9, 2026) to be eligible for JEE Advanced.
Admission Process
Admission is a sequential process where your final rank in JEE Advanced is the only factor for seat allotment.
Phase I: JEE Advanced
-
Registration: Begins on April 23, 2026, and ends on May 2, 2026.
-
Exam Date: Sunday, May 17, 2026.
-
Results: Scheduled to be declared on June 1, 2026.
Phase II: JoSAA Counselling
-
Registration & Choice Filling: Starts on June 2, 2026 (Tentative).
-
Strategic Choice: You must log into the JoSAA portal and list "IIT Goa" along with your preferred branches. Since IIT Goa is a "third-generation" IIT, it is often a preferred choice for those wanting an IIT tag with slightly more flexible cutoffs than the top 7 IITs.
Phase III: Seat Allotment & Reporting
-
There are typically 6 rounds of seat allocation.
-
If you are allotted a seat, you must complete "Online Reporting" by paying the seat acceptance fee and uploading documents.
-
Final physical reporting at the Goa campus happens in late July 2026.
