Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IIT Jodhpur) was established in 2008 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now Ministry of Education), Government of India. Initially functioning from the IIT Kanpur campus and later from a transit campus in Jodhpur, it moved to its permanent site in 2017. The institute was established to foster technology education and research, with a specific focus on multidisciplinary development and addressing the technological challenges of the nation. It is recognized as an Institute of National Importance.
