Student Visa Registration: Step-by-Step Guide
1. Arrival and Migration Card
Upon entering Russia, you’ll receive a migration card at border control. This small white document confirms your legal entry into the country and is essential for registration. Keep it safe it must be submitted to the university shortly after arrival.
2. Document Submission to ISMA
Within seven working days of arriving, you must submit the following to the International Relations Office at ISMA:

Migration card
Timely submission is crucial to avoid penalties or legal issues.
3. University Registration with Authorities
ISMA’s administrative staff will handle the formal registration process with the Federal Migration Service (FMS). They will also register your residential address, which is typically your assigned hostel room.
4. Receive Your Registration Proof
Once registered, you’ll receive either a registration slip or a stamp in your passport. This document verifies your legal stay in Russia and must be kept with your passport at all times.
Visa Extension & Annual Renewal:
Initial Visa Validity
Your first student visa is usually a single-entry visa valid for 90 days. To continue your studies, it must be extended before expiration.
Annual Renewal Process
The visa and registration must be renewed annually throughout your course duration. ISMA’s international office will guide you through the process and notify you of deadlines.
Required Documents for Extension
To renew your visa, you’ll typically need:
