Overview National Institute of Technology Rourkela (NIT Rourkela): Overview The National Institute of Technology Rourkela (NIT Rourkela), formerly known as Regional Engineering College (REC) Rourkela, was established on August 15, 1961. Its foundation stone was laid by the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. Spread across a massive 650-acre urban campus, it is recognized as an Institution of National Importance under the NIT Act. Location: Rourkela, Odisha - 769008.
