National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli (NIT Trichy)

1. Eligibility Criteria

• Minimum Marks:

  • 60% marks or a 6.5 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) for GENERAL, EWS, and OBC-NCL candidates.

  • 55% marks or a 6.0 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

• Entrance Exam: A valid score in the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted in the year immediately preceding the admission cycle (e.g., CAT 2025 score for 2026 admissions). Only CAT scores are accepted; other exams like MAT or XAT are typically not considered.

2.  Admission Process: Two Stages

The selection process is conducted in two main stages:

Stage 1: Shortlisting for Online Interview

Candidates are primarily shortlisted based on their CAT overall percentile score.

• CAT Cutoff: The overall CAT cutoff for the General category usually hovers around the 80 percentile. Sectional cutoffs may also apply.

• Application: Eligible candidates must apply separately through the official NIT Trichy online admission portal.
