Admission
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for admission, candidates must meet the academic standards set by the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Tamil Nadu:

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 12th (Higher Secondary) examination or its equivalent from a recognized board (CBSE, TNSB, ICSE, etc.).

Mandatory Subjects: Must have passed with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).

Minimum Aggregate Marks (in PCM):

General Category (OC): Minimum 45% aggregate.

Backward Class (BC/BCM): Minimum 40% aggregate.

MBC & DNC: Minimum 40% aggregate.

SC/SCA/ST: Minimum 40% aggregate.

Lateral Entry: Candidates with a relevant Diploma in Engineering or a B.Sc. degree (with Mathematics at the 12th level) are eligible for direct admission to the 2nd year (3rd semester).
Admission Process
Admission is divided into Government Counseling and Management Quota.
1. Government Quota (TNEA)
The majority of seats are filled through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA):

Registration: Apply online via the TNEA official portal.

Merit List: Ranking is based on the normalized marks of the 12th PCM subjects (on a 200-mark scale). No entrance exam is required.

Counseling Code: Use 2735 to select Nehru Institute of Technology during the choice-filling stage.

Seat Allotment: Seats are allotted based on rank, community reservation, and availability.
2. Management Quota

Direct Application: Candidates can apply directly to the college for seats under the Management Quota.

Selection: Based on the marks obtained in the qualifying 12th examination as per the guidelines of the Nehru Group of Institutions.
