After completing your MBBS from Orel State Medical University, you can practice medicine in India or outside India, but you must meet the specific licensing requirements for each country. As the university is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India, this is a crucial first step for Indian students.
In India
To practice medicine in India, you must adhere to the following NMC guidelines:
-
NEET Qualification: You must have a qualifying score on the NEET-UG examination from the year you were admitted to the university.
-
Course Duration: The medical course must be a minimum of 54 months of theoretical and practical training, followed by a 12-month internship or clinical clerkship.
-
Medium of Instruction: The entire MBBS curriculum must be taught in English.
-
Internship: The 12-month internship must be completed in the same foreign medical institution where you pursued your degree.
-
Licensing Exam: You must pass the National Exit Test (NExT), which has replaced the FMGE and is mandatory for all foreign medical graduates to get a medical license in India.
Outside India
The requirements to practice medicine in other countries vary significantly.
-
United States of America (USA): To practice in the US, you must pass all steps of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) and then apply for a residency program.
-
United Kingdom (UK): To practice, you need to register with the General Medical Council (GMC). The primary pathway is to pass the two-part Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB) test and demonstrate English language proficiency through exams like IELTS or OET.
