Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, now known as Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER), is a distinguished private medical institution located in Porur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Established in 1985 by the Sri Ramachandra Educational and Health Trust under the leadership of Shri N.P.V. Ramasamy Udayar, the institution was granted the status of a "Deemed to be University" in 1994 under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. The campus spans over 150 acres and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including modern laboratories, one of the largest medical libraries in the region, and comprehensive sports amenities. The university comprises multiple faculties, such as Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Allied Health Sciences, Management, Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Engineering and Technology, and Clinical Research. 

The Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre (SRMC), the university's teaching hospital, is a 1,800-bed tertiary care facility offering a wide range of medical services. It features 114 ICU beds, 25 operating rooms, and various specialized departments, providing students with extensive clinical exposure. ​ Academically, SRIHER offers a comprehensive array of programs, including undergraduate (MBBS), postgraduate (MD/MS), super-specialty (DM/MCh), and doctoral courses across various medical and allied health disciplines.
