SVKM's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS)

The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), established in 1981 by Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM), has grown from modest beginnings into one of India’s most prestigious and globally recognized universities. Initially launched to meet the rising demand for management education in the country, NMIMS started with a two-year full-time master’s program in management studies, four faculty members, 3,162 books, and an intake of 40 students, operating from Bhaidas Hall in Vile Parle, Mumbai. What began as a small initiative has now transformed into a multi-disciplinary, multi-campus institution that stands at the forefront of higher education in India. From its early days at Bhaidas Auditorium, NMIMS expanded into a sprawling complex of over 550,000 square feet in Vile Parle, which today serves as a landmark in Mumbai. Recognized as a Deemed-to-be University in 2003 and awarded Category-I autonomy in 2018, NMIMS has steadily broadened its academic horizons. Currently, it operates across eight campuses and 17 schools, offering programs in Management, Engineering & Technology, Science, Commerce, Architecture & Design, Liberal Arts, Humanities, and Law. With more than 12,000 students in Mumbai and 17,000 across all campuses, supported by 650 faculty members in Mumbai and over 900 nationwide, NMIMS has become one of the most sought-after academic communities in India.
