Overview: Thangavelu Engineering College (TEC) was established in 1995 by the Ponniamman Educational Trust and the TJ Educational Trust with the core objective of producing high-quality engineers. Located in Karapakkam on the Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR), the IT Highway of Chennai, the campus is strategically situated near the TIDEL Software Technology Park. The infrastructure features a well-stocked library containing over 15,000 books and journals. A unique selling point is its serene, green campus landscaped to emulate international universities. Ranked #103 out of 173 among top engineering colleges in India by IIRF 2025, the institute recorded a highest package of ₹12.0 LPA, an average package of ₹5.0 LPA, and a placement rate of 85%.
