Thapar University Admission Steps :-
Step 1: Online Application
Eligible candidates should apply through the official website (thapar.edu), ensuring they meet all course-specific requirements and submit the form before the deadline.
Step 2: Entrance Examination
Applicants must appear for the relevant entrance tests — JEE Main or NEET for BTech, TMAT or other accepted exams for MBA, and GATE for MTech. Candidates with valid scores should enter them in the application form.
Step 3: Merit List Announcement
The university publishes a merit list based on entrance exam scores. This list displays candidate names, exam scores, category, and allocated branch.
Selection Criteria – Weightage
The final merit list is based on a holistic evaluation, with maximum emphasis on interview performance:
| Criteria | Weightage (%) |
|---|---|
| Personal Interview (PI) | 45% |
| Entrance Exam Score (CAT/XAT/GMAT/TMAT) | 40% |
| Academic Record (10th, 12th, Graduation) | 15% |
| Total | 100% |
Step 4: Counselling & Fee Submission
Shortlisted students attend counselling sessions. Final seat confirmation is subject to payment of admission fees after counselling.
Application Fee
-
A one-time, non-refundable fee of ₹1,500 (based on the previous admission cycle).
MBA Cut-Offs:
LMTSM considers scores from major national-level entrance exams to shortlist candidates for the Personal Interview (PI).
-
Applicants without a valid national test score must appear for the Thapar Management Aptitude Test (TMAT).
| Entrance Exam | Expected Cut-Off Range |
|---|---|
| CAT | 65 – 75 percentile |
| XAT | 65 – 75 percentile |
| CMAT | 75 – 80 percentile |
| NMAT | 140 – 150 score |
Note: These are minimum shortlisting thresholds. Higher scores, especially 90 percentile in CAT, may qualify applicants for merit-based scholarships.
