UNIVERSITY SCIENCE INSTRUMENTATION CENTRE

The University of Kalyani is a public research university located in Kalyani, Nadia District, West Bengal, India, established in 1960 as a Government of West Bengal-administered university. It is UGC-recognized and NAAC accredited, offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes across science, arts, social sciences, and technology disciplines. Within the University, the Faculty of Engineering Technology & Management includes the Department of Engineering & Technological Studies and the Department of Computer Science & Engineering which together administer the technical programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The department originated from the University Science & Instrumentation Centre (USIC) established in 1978, later expanded to include technology education, and eventually secured approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to start engineering courses. Over time, the university introduced B.Tech programmes in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering and Information Technology, with intake through the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEE). In recent years, the university also received AICTE approval for B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering (starting in 2022). On the postgraduate side, the university offers M.Tech specializations including Information Technology and Communication Engineering under the Department of Engineering & Technological Studies, as well as M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering under the Department of Computer Science & Engineering. The campus comprised classrooms, laboratories, research centers, computing facilities, and a central library. Students pursuing engineering degrees have access to the academic and research infrastructure of the university, with quality assurance through affiliation to national regulatory bodies.
