Established in 1956 as the University College of Engineering (UCE), Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, is the oldest and one of the most prestigious engineering institutions in Odisha. Converted into a unitary university in 2009, it occupies a massive 350-acre campus near the Hirakud Dam.
