MBA Admission Process (Two Stages)

Stage 1: Shortlisting for Personal Interview (PI)

• Mandatory Exam: Candidates must appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT). International applicants may apply using a valid GMAT score.

• Application: Submit applications online to VGSoM, IIT Kharagpur through the official portal after CAT results are announced.

• Composite Score Calculation: Shortlisting is based on a composite score derived from:

  1. Minimum CAT Percentile: Applicants must meet the category-wise cut-off.

  2. Application Rating (AR): Evaluated based on marks in Class X, Class XII, undergraduate/postgraduate degrees, and professional qualifications.

  3. Gender Diversity Factor (GDF): Female candidates are awarded 4 additional marks to encourage diversity.

• PI Shortlist: Candidates with sufficiently high composite scores are invited for the Online Personal Interview (PI).

Stage 2: Final Selection and Merit List

The final merit list is prepared using a cumulative score with the following weightages:

Minimum CAT Cut-Off for Shortlisting

Applicants must meet the following minimum overall CAT percentile cut-offs to be considered for PI shortlisting. The actual admitted percentile is often higher.

MBA Eligibility Criteria

• Qualifying Degree:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree of at least 4 years in Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy, or Medicine, OR

  2. A Master’s degree in Science, Economics, or Commerce (with Mathematics or Statistics studied at the Bachelor’s level).

• Minimum Marks:

  1. General / EWS / OBC: 60% marks or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale.

  2. SC / ST / PwD: 55% marks or CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale.

• Final Year Students: Candidates in their final year of study are eligible to apply provisionally.
