Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), originally established as the University of Cochin on 10th July 1971, was reconstituted in February 1986 with a renewed mission to promote graduate and postgraduate education, along with advanced research in applied sciences, technology, industry, commerce, management, and social sciences. Today, CUSAT stands as a globally recognized institution, consistently ranked in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings since 2017, and featured in the QS World University Rankings and India’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

 Re-accredited with an 'A+' Grade by NAAC in its third cycle, CUSAT has evolved into a premier federal university, expanding its academic reach into emerging and interdisciplinary fields. The university fosters international collaborations and hosts numerous academic events, offering students exposure to global perspectives. Its Advanced Centre for Atmospheric Radar Research (ACARR) is a notable Centre of Excellence under the Prime Minister’s “Make in India” initiative.
