DMS IIT Delhi

The Department of Management Studies arose from the evolution of an idea that was floated in 1963. What was once a seed sprouted into life, and in 1974, IIT Delhi formed an internal committee to investigate the management area's operations. An expert committee was formed in 1975 to formally investigate the possibilities of launching this sector on a more sustained basis. As a result, an M.Tech degree in "Management Systems" was established in the School for System Studies (later called the School for Systems and Management Studies). In 1978, the Management key Group was formed, and the key inputs to a full-time Management Education at IIT(D) were reconfirmed by an Advisory Committee.by representatives from academia and industry. There has been no turning back since. The Centre for Systems and Management Studies replaced the School for Systems and Management Studies. This was afterwards renamed the Centre for Management Studies.
